Melo Promotes Robinson-Trail to Associate Head Coach

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. – After four years of hard work and relentless effort, Stevi Robinson-Trail has been rewarded for her commitment to the Cal State Bakersfield volleyball program. CSUB Head Coach Giovana Melo has announced that Robinson-Trail has been promoted from Assistant Coach to Associate Head Coach.

"I am thrilled to announce this very deserved promotion for Stevi," Melo said. "She has made a tremendous impact in our program. She is a tireless worker, loyal, and passionate about coaching and developing student-athletes on and off the court."

"Stevi shares my vision for how we want to keep Bakersfield Volleyball moving forward. We are both passionate about the sport and believe that relationship building is a huge piece to our success. While we share common goals, we have very different strengths and weaknesses, which is important to me when building a staff. I have been privileged to grow professionally alongside her. I'm so excited to have her in the role of an Associate Head Coach."

Robinson-Trail has served on Melo's coaching staff for four seasons, including the last three years as the assistant coach/recruiting coordinator. The year prior, she was the program's Director of Volleyball Operations.

In her time in Bakersfield, Robinson-Trail has helped the `Runners earn one postseason appearance, a trip to the NIVC in 2021, and five All-Conference honorees.

"I'm extremely grateful for the opportunity and ability to grow and develop within this new role as an Associate Head Coach," said Robinson-Trail. "I want to thank Head Coach Giovana Melo, Athletic Director Kyle Conder, and the rest of the administration at Bakersfield for the incredible opportunity to serve our student-athletes in this new role."

"The past five seasons working alongside Giovana have been truly special and I look forward to building on our continued success. I love it here and I'm excited for the future. Go Runners!"

Robinson-Trail's volleyball knowledge is extensive, a result of robust coaching and playing careers. A shortlist of her experience and accolades includes coaching stints at Gonzaga and The Citadel as well as professional and elite collegiate competitions. She was a member of the United States Women's National Team and played professionally in Germany.

A former libero, Robinson-Trail graduated as Pepperdine's indoor squad's all-time digs leader (1,750) and she helped the Pepperdine beach volleyball team to a Team National Championship. While pursuing a master's degree in her final year of eligibility, she earned AVCA All-American honors while winning a Pairs National title for the University of Southern California.
