Bakersfield, Calif.  For the second year, CSUB Athletics awarded the Lloyd Norwood Spirit Award in memory for Mr. Lloyd Norwood during  the last home game for Men's basketball.

History of Lloyd Norwood Spirit Award 

Mr. Norwood began his career at CSU Bakersfield in 2009 as a member of the Campus Dining Services Staff. An avid sports fan, Mr. Norwood became a fixture at home sporting events as he was regularly seen cheering on his favorite team, the Roadrunners. 

Always armed with his infectious smiles and Roadrunner spirit, Mr. Norwood affected many lives in a positive manner during his time at CSU Bakersfield. Mr. Norwood passed away in the spring of 2021 but not before leaving a last mark on University, Athletics department and everyone that he interacted with. 

In his honor, CSU Bakersfield created and will annually award the Lloyd Norwood Spirit award to a member of the Big Blue Rowdy crew  (Pep Band) for whom he enjoyed listening to while attending his many Roadrunner home games.
