The 'Runners Welcome The Jaspers for a Weekend of Doubleheaders

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. – The Cal State Bakersfield baseball team is back this weekend but with a little twist. The Roadrunners will welcome the Manhattan Jaspers for two days of doubleheaders, Feb. 25 and 26, at Hardt Field with the first pitch of the weekend schedule for 1:05 p.m. (PT) on Saturday afternoon.

- Saturday, Feb. 25, 1:05 p.m. / 4:05 p.m. (DH)
- Sunday, Feb. 26, 10:05 a.m. / 1:05 p.m. (DH)

`Runner Notes

CSUB's midweek win on Tuesday against Saint Mary's put the `Runners at a 4-1 record to start off their season.
Marcelo Saldana and Gabe Ulloa pitched well, with Ulloa shutting down the Gaels. Saint Mary's was held scoreless after scoring three in the first four innings.
Kyler Stancato and Matt Masciangelo supplied much of the offense to help put them over the top of the Gaels.
Heading into this weekend's series, Nick Salas and AJ Miller have both reached base in each of the last five games this season.

Scouting the Jaspers

Manhattan (0-3) is coming off a series loss to Stetson University where they were outscored 35 – 7.
Graduate student infielder Jack Lynch and junior outfielder Frankie Marinelli supplied much of the offense over the weekend for the Jaspers. Lynch is batting .364 after the first series of the season, getting four hits and two RBI. Marinelli is batting .300 with three hits and an RBI.
The Jaspers worked seven walks in the final game versus the Hatters, which helped them get run support despite losing 8-6.
The `Runners pitching staff could look to exploit the Manhattan offense as the Jaspers struck out 44 times in the first series. The Bakersfield pitchers have struck out 30 batters in their first four games.
