Bakersfield, Calif. – Head Coach Jeremy Beard announced the 2024 CSUB baseball schedule this week, with the Roadrunners home opener on Mar. 1 against San Francisco State. The 52-game schedule features 26 home games and 26 road games.
"Year in and year out we work to put together a challenging schedule for our program. This year is no different. I'm excited for our guys to compete against multiple power five conference opponents prior to a very competitive Big West conference this year. This is what we recruit to and train to and it's how we will build this program to a top-tier level,” said Head Coach Beard.
"We expect to have some challenging moments, however, in the long run, it's how we bring out the best in our young men."
Non-Conference
The Roadrunners open their season on the road in two premier college baseball tournaments. First being the College Baseball Classic (Feb. 16-19) in Surprise, Ariz. and the second being the Tony Gwynn Legacy Tournament (Feb. 19-24) in San Diego, Calif. These tournaments will feature Pac-12, SEC, WCC, and Mountain West competition for the `Runners.
Following the tournaments, the Roadrunners will host San Francisco for a four-game series for their home opener from Mar. 1-3; featuring a double header on Saturday Mar. 2. Then New Jersey Tech will come to the West Coast for another four-game series on Mar. 8.
Non-Conference Midweeks
Bakersfield will have six non-conference midweek games this season with three at home and three on the road. Bakersfield will host Pepperdine (Mar. 25), Fresno State (Apr. 2), and Pacific (Apr. 30). Bakersfield will also travel to Pepperdine (Mar. 12), Pacific (Apr. 9), and they will wrap up with Fresno State (May 14).
Big West home slate
This year CSUB will host some of the Big West’s best teams from last season. Hawai’i will open Conference play in Bakersfield on Mar. 15-17 and Long Beach State will visit Bakersfield on March 28-30. The Roadrunners took 2 of 3 from both schools last season on the road.
The schedule sees two of last year’s best travel to Hardt Field, College World Series representative Cal State Fullerton (Apr.5 -7), and the owner of the Big West’s 2023 best record UC San Diego (Apr. 19-21). The home slate will wrap up in mid-May with UC Santa Barbara on May 10-12.
Big West road slate
The `Runners five Big West road series will be at UC Irvine (Mar. 21-23), Cal Poly (Apr. 12-14), CSUN (Apr. 26-28), UC Riverside (May 3-5) and UC Davis (May 23-25). The series in Davis, Calif. against UC Davis will be the final of the regular season.
The 2024 slate has 52 games scheduled with the chance to compete up to 56 games. More games could be added later.
All home conference games will be streamed on ESPN+.
