`Runner Men Scare UCSD in Tight MPSF Dual

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. – Taking on one of the top teams in their conference, the Cal State Bakersfield men's and women's swimming and diving teams battled UC San Diego at home on Monday afternoon. The Roadrunner men nearly upset the visiting Tritons, dropping a narrow decision, 156-138. On the women's side, the power of UCSD was too much for CSUB to handle as the `Runners fell by a final score of 192-92.

Men
  • The men's 200 medley relay team of Milin, Skyler Carmelich, Saglam, and Folsom opened the meet with a victory and a time of 1:31.93.
  • Schneider continued the `Runner momentum, posting a nearly three-second victory in the 1000 free (9:37.63). The Brazilian freshman also placed third in the 500 free with a time of 4:40.47.
  • Sivec recorded victories in the 200 free (1:37.40), 100 free (45.18), and 500 free (4:30.38) on Monday.
  • Saglam won the 100 back with a time of 47.58 before taking the 100 fly (49.12).
  • Milin earned a victory in the 100 breaststroke (56.75) to go with second-place finishes in the 200 breast (2:05.34) and 100 fly (49.34).
  • Folsom placed third in the 1000 free (9:42.41) and second in the 200 IM (1:54.12).
Women
  • Popham won the 200 back with a time of 2:04.47 after placing second in the 50 free (23.69) and 200 free (1:53.16).
  • Van der Westhuizen finished second in the 100 breast (1:04.24) and 200 breast (2:19.75).
  • DiSimone earned a third-place result in the 200 free with a time of 1:54.39.
  • Brown picked up 18 points on her own with wins in the 1-meter (210.55) and 3-meter (219.20) diving events.
