Roadrunners Downed in Exhibition Finale at LMU

Los Angeles – California State University, Bakersfield dropped its final exhibition contest 2-0 at Loyola Marymount, Friday evening, closing out a three-game pre-season slate. The Roadrunners outshot LMU 16-13, but surrendered a pair of second half goals just ten minutes apart as the Lions avenged a 2021 loss at CSUB.

First Half

The Roadrunners outshot LMU 7-6, including a 2-1 advantage in shots on goal, while each team registered three corner kicks.
Bakersfield goalkeeper Filippo Dadone earned the start, making one save in 45 minutes of action.
No first-half scoring.

Second Half

LMU's Dylan Shockey opened the scoring in the 66th minute, assisted by Derek Goodman.
Braden Fidelak doubled the Lion advantage ten minutes later with an assist from Marco Byers-Mora.
The 'Runners posted nine second half shots, including three on target. Loyola managed just seven shot attempts, but put four on target and two into the back of the net.
Scott Pengelly stopped two of the four shots he faced in the second.

Notable

Bryson Hankins, Rene Cortez & Bilal Mihoubi all finished the game with four shot attempts. Mihoubi boasted three of CSUB's five shots on goal for the game.
Filippo Dadone finished the exhibition season with four saves on five shots in 135 minutes played to lead all Bakersfield goalkeepers.
LMU committed 23 fouls to CSUB's 11, and drew four yellow cards on the night. Hankins and central defender Harry Downing earned yellows for Bakersfield.
