CSUB Volleyball Teams Earn National Academic Honors

LEXINGTON, Ky. – The CSU Bakersfield volleyball programs are redefining success in the classroom as, for the second-straight year, both the Roadrunner indoor and beach teams have earned the USMC/AVCA Team Academic Award.

Annually honoring the nation's volleyball programs that strive for academic excellence, the Team Academic Award celebrates teams that maintain a year-long grade point average (GPA) of 3.30 or higher.

Additionally, the `Runner both squads earned the additional Honor Roll distinction for ranking among the Top 20% of team GPAs in NCAA Division I.

Bakersfield's volleyball teams led the way to a new CSUB Athletics record of a department-wide cumulative GPA of 3.25 at the end of the Spring 2022 term. The beach squad wrapped up the year with a 3.66 cumulative GPA, while the indoor team came in with a nearly-identical 3.65.

CSUB's pair of squads joined more than 1,200 other teams to be honored by the AVCA, including 121 NCAA Division I indoor programs and 54 beach teams. Individually, CSUB's indoor roster featured five `Runners to earn Big West Academic All-Conference honors while an outstanding 10 `Runners earned the award this spring in the sand.
