Women's Soccer Fall 2022 Schedule Announced

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. – CSU Bakersfield women's soccer is locked in for the 2022 season as fifth-year head coach Sebastian Vecchio has finalized the program's schedule.

"I am extremely pleased with our schedule for this coming year," said CSUB women's soccer Head Coach Sebastian Vecchio. "We will be playing very tough competition that will prepare us for the Big West."

"We have a talented group and they worked very hard this Spring," added Vecchio. "They set a foundation for success and with the incoming talent we should be a tough group to beat."

Bakersfield has several marquee match ups lined up. A non-conference slate that features New Mexico and Montana who made NCAA Tournament appearances last year, five programs coming off 10 or more wins, and a home conference docket that welcomes the 2021 Big West second and fourth seeded teams to the Main Soccer Field.

CSUB will play in a pair of home exhibition matches against Azusa Pacific (8/11) and The Master's (8/13) ahead of the official season. The non-conference slate opens the following week with five straight road contests: UNLV (8/18), New Mexico (8/21), San Diego (8/25), Gonzaga (9/1), and Montana, (9/4).

Gonzaga returns a loaded roster that fell one contest short of making the NCAA Women's Soccer Tournament and finished the 2021 season 15-5.

The Roadrunners will host their first countable game on campus September 9 against NAU and enjoy the comforts of home the next three matches sandwiching the team's Big West opener with CSUN (9/15) between their final non-conference games against Boise State (9/11) and Sacramento State (9/18).

Boise State is another team on the 2022 docket that was one match from an NCAA appearance falling to UNM in the Mountain West Championship game in 2021.

League road games include Long Beach State (9/22), 2021 Big West champions UC Irvine (9/25), UC Davis (10/13), Hawaii (10/16), and last season's conference third seed Cal State Fullerton (10/27).

Bakersfield hosts CSUN (9/15), Cal Poly (9/29) - who finished seeded second last season, last year's fourth seed UC Santa Barbara (10/2), UC Riverside (10/9), and UC San Diego (10/20).

First Round of the Big West Conference Tournament kicks off October 30 while semifinals and the championship match take place November 3-6.
