Miller Ties 20th at NCAA West Preliminary Rounds

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – The air was cold, and a gutsy wind had settled around the pole vault runway in Fayetteville, Ark. Thursday evening. There were eight vaulters that were affected by the weather challenges resulting in no height, but not Miranda Miller.

Used to extreme conditions, sophomore Miranda Miller still managed to take flight and compete with the best in the NCAA West region tying ninth in her flight and 20th overall.

The first six to qualify cleared 13-9 ¾ while the final six to advance had the best jumps at 13-5 ¾. Placement in the event following was determined by attempts as Miller and twenty other athletes cleared 12-11 ¾.

Edged out of the top 12, Miranda Miller gracefully bows out of the 2022 outdoor season with a bittersweet taste and benchmark set for a monstrous junior campaign.

She will return next year with an impressive resume: Big West Conference title, Big West Field Athlete of the Year, a pair of All-Conference nods, multiple meet records, and CSUB's school record holder.
