CSUB Parting Ways with Head Softball Coach Buck-Ziegler

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. – Interim Director of Athletics Cindy Goodmon has announced that CSU Bakersfield will not renew the contract of Crissy Buck-Ziegler as Head Softball Coach after 11 seasons at the helm of the Roadrunners. CSUB Athletics will begin a national search for the fourth head coach in the program's history in the near future.

"I am extremely grateful for Crissy and the time, energy, and passion she has invested into our softball program," Goodmon said. "She has devoted herself to CSUB for over a decade and led our `Runners to the NCAA Tournament in 2016. We wish her the best and we will fondly remember her time in Bakersfield."

Buck-Ziegler came to CSUB in July of 2011 as just the third head coach in the history of the program, which dates back to 1985. In her 11 seasons with the `Runners, Buck-Ziegler earned a 122-325-1 record, including a 21-25 record during the 2015 season. Bakersfield reached the NCAA Tournament in 2016 after Buck-Ziegler's squad won the Western Athletic Conference Tournament.

CSUB completed its first official season in the Big West in 2022 with an 8-37 overall record while going 3-24 in league play. Two `Runners, sisters Cydney Curran and Cieana Curran, earned All-Big West honors for their performances on the year.

"I am confident that our national search will bring in top quality candidates," Goodmon said of the mission to find CSUB's next Head Coach. "Our student-athletes are our top priority and we will work hard to make sure we keep growing toward winning a Big West championship."
