Miller, Threlkeld, Slayton, and Richardson Win at Franson Invitational

Miranda Miller resets program vault record again, 4.26m (13'11.75")

AZUSA, Calif. – The CSU Bakersfield men and women's track & field teams dominated in many events Saturday at the Franson Invitational. The Roadrunners had four athletes win their events, including a new school record from Miranda Miller, and posted 18 Top 5 finishers at Azusa Pacific.

"We just had lots of great performances and really good energy," said Director of Track & Field, Cross Country Marcia Mansur-Wentworth. "They were just feeding off everybody else at the meet. It was fun and I'm very proud of their efforts and to see their hard work is showing off."

"We had a fantastic day with lots of outstanding performances," added Mansur-Wentworth. "Miranda's stands out, but we also had personal records and season-bests from several athletes today."

Miranda Miller continues to push the bar to new heights having herself a standout season in vault. She reset the program pole vault record again today shattering her last personal record and clearing 4.26m (13'11.75"). The Franson Invitational marks the fourth-straight meet Miller has won the event.

Julianne Finch finished third with a season-best mark while Kassidy Neptune was fifth rounding out the Roadrunners Top 5 in women's pole vault.

Curtis Threlkeld places first in the 800m race with a season-best (1:50.88) in the event. Depending on how the rest of the conference did this weekend, his improvement could keep him at the top of the league in 800m standings.

In the 1500m, Threlkeld placed fifth behind a pair of CSUN and Cal Poly Pomona runners.

Bakersfield did numbers in women's 400m hurdles taking first, second, and fifth in the event led by Riley Slayton's personal best (1:01.70). Julia Stein was next to cross the finish line with a time of 1:03.43 while Jatzyn Greer placed fifth for the Roadrunners.

Tom Richardson won shot put outthrowing a total of 29 athletes with his season-best mark of 16.33m (53'7"). Richardson is now 17th all-time in shot put at CSUB.

Bradley Bryant the first collegiate finisher in long jump placing second overall with a season-best mark of 23'1.25". He went on to place third, second among college athletes, in triple jump (44'4").

Ryan Bentley landed tied second in high jump clearing 6'2.75".

Evan Vigrass was third in men's javelin throwing the distance of 176'3" and cracking the program's Top 20 all-time list in his first time ever competing in the event.

Derek Crawford was Top 5 in the 400m dash running the race in 49.62 seconds.

Mariah LeSure led the `Runners in sprints placing runner-up in the 100m dash with a time of 11.95 and fourth in the 200m with a personal best (25.07).

Kenneth Rugnau finished fifth in the 100m race rounding out the men and women's Top 5 individual finishes.

CSUB's women's 1600m relay placed second at the Franson Invitational. The quartet of Riley Slayton, Neyda Martinez, Jatzyn Greer, and Julia Stein have now been runner up in the last two consecutive meets.
