Popham 5th in 100 Free, Men 12th Overall at NIC

Elkhart, Ind. - The Roadrunners added six more finals swims to their tally and the CSU Bakersfield men posted the fifth-fastest 400 Freestyle Relay time in program history, as CSUB wrapped the third and final day of the National Invitational Championships at the Beacon Health and Aquatic Center in Elkhart, Ill. Bakersfield's men finished off a strong meet with a 12th-place finish, ending the season in style.

"I'm very pleased with this weekend's performances," said CSUB Director of Swimming Chris Hansen. "Our men and women showed the strength and depth of our team, along with tremendous leadership! I think our team will see how are NIC swimmers competed this weekend and want to be a part of this event in the future."

On the men's side, Kris Rogic and Lars Hanna reached B-Finals in the 200 Backstroke, while Loren Gillilan and Nick Dobusch accomplished B-Final swims in the 200 Butterfly. Rogic, Gillilan, Ryan Brimer and Antonio Milin competed in the 400 Free Relay, swimming a 2:58.82 to place 9th overall and enter the event Top-5 for CSUB.

Mikayla Popham reached finals in the 200 Backstroke (B) and the 100 Freestyle (A). Popham set a new school record in the 200 Backstroke with her time of 2:00.00, but scratched to focus on the 100 Freestyle final. She placed 5th overall in the latter event during the evening finals.

Saturday night's competition ends the season for all Roadrunner swimmers but one. Senior Autumn D'Arcy will travel to Atlanta, Ga., on Tuesday to compete at the NCAA Championship meet. D'Arcy will swim the 100 Butterfly, the 200 Butterfly and the 200 Individual Medley in Atlanta.
