Rogic Third Again on Day Two of National Invitational Championship

Elkhart, Ind. - Senior Kris Rogic posted his second third-place finish in as many days, leading another strong session for CSU Bakersfield swimmers on the second day of competition at the National Invitational Championships at the Beacon Health Aquatic Center in Elkhart, Ind. Rogic was one of five Roadrunners to reach event finals on Friday night, in an evening session that also saw a pair of strong swim for CSUB relay teams.

"Our men are on fire this weekend, Ryan and Antonio had great swims and I'm so proud of Kris for another third-place finish," said CSUB Director of Swimming Chris Hansen. "It was great to get two fast relay swims, including the group of four making their NIC debut!"

Rogic earned his third-place finish in the 100 Backstroke with a time of 47.61, climbing two spots after finishing the morning session as the fifth-seed. He also led off the men's 200 Medley Relay squad that posted the second fastest time in school history with a 1:28.88.

Ryan Brimer, Loren Gillilan and Antonio Milin joined Rogic on the medley relay squad, while also reaching finals swims of their own.

Brimer logged a 1:35.66 to place fourth in the 200 Freestyle, while Milin became the seconds fastest 100 Breaststroke swimmer in program history (54.31) with a 10th place finish and Gillilan was 15th in the 100 Butterfly.

CSUB newcomers Nicholas Dobousch, Tim Engel, Lars Hanna and Carter Walles earned a 14th-place finish in the 800 Freestyle relay in their first-ever NIC meet.

Mikayla Popham led the Bakersfield women with a 1:48.00 in the 200 Freestyle, good enough for a fifth-place finish.

CSUB's men improved one spot in the Championship Standings, moving up to 11th through two days of competition. The women sit in 27th place.
