Transfer Barry Signs with CSUB Men's Soccer

Bakersfield, Calif. – Hesron Barry has signed a National Letter of Intent with CSU Bakersfield, after spending the past two seasons at Barton Community College in Great Bend, Kan. A junior defender capable of playing in the center or on the left flank, Barry is a native of Ochos Rios, Jamaica, and will suit up for the Roadrunners beginning in the fall of 2021.

"Hesron is a vital addition to our squad and adds athleticism and experience to our back line," said Head Coach Richie Grant. "He has the ability to play two positions and is eager to show well in the Big West Conference."

Barry started 29 games, including 15 starts, on the back line for the Cougars from 2019-21. He led BCC to a 13-3-1 record and a Regional Championship as a sophomore, pacing a Cougar defense that allowed just 1.47 goals against per game for the season.

Barry (6-1, 186 lbs) scored four goals, and chipped in an assist, over two seasons at BCC, while earning his Associates Degree.

As a prep, he attended Jamaica College and Ochos Rios High School, where he was named the 2017 Sportsman of the Year while leading his team to Manning Cup and DeCosta Cup Championships.

Barry also earned an invite to Jamaica's U-17 camp that season.

Hesron Barry is the son of Ann-Maureen Christine and plans to pursue a degree in Business Administration at CSUB.

Barry and the `Runners will open the 2021 campaign with an exhibition against The Master's College on Aug. 15, before facing Loyola-Marymount and Stanford to round out the pre-season. Bakersfield kicks off the regular season at home against San Jose State on Aug. 26.

CSUB did not compete in 2020 and will make its Big West debut this season. The `Runners advanced to the Western Athletic Conference semi-finals in 2019, their final season in the league.
