Roberson Nabs Big West Player of the Week Honor

Bakersfield, Calif. – CSU Bakersfield center fielder Jacen Roberson has been named the Big West Conference's Player of the Week for May 7-9. Roberson hit .533, recording multiple hits in three of four games against Cal Poly, with multiple RBI in all four games. He becomes the first Roadrunner baseball player to capture the award as a member of the Big West.
 
"Jacen has been playing great baseball," said CSUB Head Coach Jeremy Beard. "He executed his approach this weekend and had success. Cal Poly pitched him well, but he took advantage of the few good pitches he did see and earned this honor."
 
Roberson finished the weekend 8-for-15 with a base on balls, posting a .563 on-base percentage. He slugged 1.133 with a double and a triple to go along with his fifth and sixth home runs of the season.
 
The Bakersfield native drove in 10 runs over the four-game series, including a game-winning, two-run single in the opener.
 
Roberson raised his overall slugging percentage to .617, second best in the Big West this season.
 
The `Runners improved to 18-13 overall and 15-9 in conference play with their four-game sweep of the Mustangs, and now sit alone in third place in the Big West standings.

CSUB travels to Long Beach State next, opening a four-game series with the Dirtbags on Friday, May 14, at 6:00 PM.
