Miller's Pole Vault Win Breaks School Record

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. – CSU Bakersfield outdoor track and field dominated women's pole vault on Thursday behind a school record mark from Miranda Miller to win the event. Both teams combined for four Top three finishes in day one of the Fullerton Spring Invite.

Miller led all pole vaulters for the second time this season. She cleared the bar a foot higher than any other competitor at 13 feet – a personal best and school record. Julianne Finch and Alexa Schacher finished in a six-way tie for second place.

Hugo Santana threw for a big personal record on Thursday and placed third in a deep men's hammer field. Santana's mark of 190'8" lands him on the CSUB all-time depth chart at twenty. Corbin Chronister threw a season best in hammer to finish eighth.

Director of Track & Field, Cross Country Marcia Mansur-Wentworth, "Today's meet was the most competitive we've been in so far this season and Ithink they did really well."

Bianca Frausto runs the 5000-meter tonight at 7:55 while hurdlers, jumpers and sprinters will compete tomorrow.
