Bakersfield Earns 18 Top 6 Performances at Westmont Classic

SANTA BARBARA, Calif. – CSU Bakersfield outdoor track and field closed the Westmont Classic with eighteen Top 6 performances on Saturday. The Roadrunners were led by freshman Brandon Andrade who finished second and third in the hurdles.

Andrade continues to shine in his first season competing for Bakersfield. He was the `Runners highest finisher this weekend after placing second in the 110-meter hurdles and third in the 400m hurdles. Transfer Evan Vigass was fourth and fifth in the 110-m and 400-meter hurdles.

Corbin Chronister had one of his better throwing performances on Saturday. He finished third in hammer and fifth in discus throw. Hugo Santana and Thomas Richardson placed fourth and sixth in hammer, respectively.

Ryan Bentley tied for third in the men's high jump while freshman Jesus Alverez finished close behind at fourth.

Alverez rounded out the men's Top 6 performances in high jump.

Miranda Miller paced the women on Saturday at the Westmont Classic. She placed third in pole vault. Veteran and school record holder Julianne Finch finished right behind Miller in fourth.

Riley Slayton led the Roadrunners in the 400-meter hurdles finishing fourth in the event. Freshman hurdler Julia Stein was solid in both distances with a fourth-place finish in the 100-meter hurdles and fifth in the 400m hurdles. Kailee Yoshishige finished fifth in the 100m hurdles.

Hannah Walker tied for sixth place in the high jump to total out the women's Top 6 finishes.
