Track & Field Builds on Momentum at Cal Poly

SAN LUIS OBISPO, Calif. – CSU Bakersfield put together another productive outing in their third meet of the season on Wednesday. Freshman Brandon Andrade led the Roadrunners with a first-place finish in 110-meter hurdles.

As a team CSUB collected ten Top 6 performances.

Director of Track & Field, Cross Country Marcia Mansur-Wentworth said post-meet, "We're making progress and moving forward. I couldn't be prouder of this group."

Andrade earned his first top finish in just his third collegiate meet. He ran a time of 15.37 in the 110mH.

Tom Richardson took second in shot put (14.89m) and fifth in discus. Corbin Chronister led the group in discus placing third in the event after throwing the distance of 58.58m.

Julianne Finch finished third in a deep pool of pole vaulters equalizing her season best at 3.75m. Miranda Miller followed behind Finch in fourth.

Freshman Julia Stein placed fifth in both the 100-meter hurdles and 400-meter race. She was just shy of cracking the CSUB all-time list in the 100mH.

Derek Crawford placed fifth in the men's 400m dash with a season-best time of 50.72.

Mansur-Wentworth added, "Our entire staff is doing a fantastic job of preparing these athletes. We have met challenges and we are overcoming them. We want to take advantage of every opportunity in front of us."

Bakersfield will look to gain on the momentum from this mid-week meet ahead of the Westmont Invitational on Saturday.
