Cerro Coso Hires Women's Soccer GA Stephen Jenkins

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. – Former CSU Bakersfield women's soccer graduate assistant Stephen Jenkins has been hired as the next women's soccer head coach at Cerro Coso Community College.

"I am very excited for the future of Cerro Coso Community College," said Jenkins, "and I want to thank John McHenry for trusting me to build this program."

Jenkins spent the last two seasons as graduate assistant coach under Sebastian Vecchio. He helped the Roadrunners reach new heights on the pitch and in the classroom.

Head coach Vecchio addressed his commitment to CSUB that "everyone associated with our program grows personally, athletically and professionally." He added, "Stephen was a big part of our success during the first two seasons and he is more than deserving of this opportunity."

"Stephen's work rate and his passion to serve scholar athletes will be a major asset to Cerro Coso. I am looking forward to following his success in the college game and I am happy we get to keep him in the state of California."

Jenkins was an assistant coach at Millikin University and Eisenhower High School in Decatur, Ill. for a year before arriving to CSUB in 2018. At Eisenhower, he helped the Panthers to its winningest season. During his time at Millikin the team went 7-10-1, had 13 players on CCIW Academic All-Conference and done First Team All-Conference selection.

Jenkins graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Communications from Waldorf University and a master's degree in public administration from CSU Bakersfield.

Jenkins thanked Sebastian, Kate, and former student-athletes then added, "They pushed me to be a better person, and have become lifelong friends. I will forever be a `Runner!"
