Men's Swimming Adds Saglam, Schneider for 2022

BAKERSFIELD – CSU Bakersfield Director of Swimming Chris Hansen has announced the signings of Yigit Saglam and Arthur Schneider to National Letters of Intent. Saglam and Schneider join William Kainen, Vili Sivec and diver Robert Vlad as part of the Roadrunner's men's recruiting class for the fall of 2022.

"Yigit and Arthur are two great additions to our 2022 recruiting class and should make an immediate impact at CSUB," said Hansen. "We are graduating a lot of talent this spring, and these two bring the times and talent that will help us to reload in a hurry."

Saglam will transfer to CSUB from the University of Tampa, where he competed as a freshman during the 2020-21 campaign. He brings experience in the Freestyle, Butterfly and Backstroke.

Saglam brings top times of 20.56 in the 500 Freestyle, 45.51 in the 100 Freestyles and the 47.52 in the 100 Butterfly. He raced all three at the NCAA Division II Championships in 2021, finishing as high as 14^th in the 100 Fly. His butterfly time would rank him second in CSUB history while his freestyle times sit just outside the `Runner Top-Five.

A native of Izmir, Turkey, he has also competed for the Turkish National Team at both the junior and senior levels.

Schneider has spent the last two seasons competing for Gremio Nautico Uniao in his hometown of Porto Alegre, Brazil. He boasts personal best, long-course times of 52.44 in the 100 Freestyle, 1:52.42 in the 200 Freestyle and 4:00.51 in the 400 Freestyle.

His long-course mark in the 200 Freestyle would be a CSUB school record.

Saglam and Schneider join a critical Bakersfield recruiting class, that will replace a record-setting group headlined by Ryan Brimer, Loren Gillilan and Kris Rogic.
