Beard Announces 2022 Baseball Schedule

Kansas State, Utah, Fresno State & Five Home Big West Series Highlight Spring Slate

Bakersfield, Calif. – CSU Bakersfield baseball will host 32 games at Hardt Field in 2022, highlighted by home series with Kansas State, Utah and five Big West Conference opponents, head coach Jeremy Beard announced Friday. The Roadrunners will play their second full season in the Big West, one of college baseball's premier conferences, next Spring after finishing with a 17-19 league record a season ago. 
 
Bakersfield opens the year with 12-straight non-conference games at home, beginning with a three-game series with Oakland University of the Horizon League on Friday, Feb. 18 at 6:05 p.m. 
 
CSUB also hosts non-conference series at Hardt Field against the Big-12 Wildcats and the Pac-12 Utes, along with a four-game series against Utah Valley. The `Runners will also make a non-conference return trip to Pacific, after hosting the Tigers in 2021. 
 
A home-and-home series with Fresno State is also on the schedule, with the `Runners will welcome their central valley rivals to Bakersfield on Mar. 1 and making the trip to Fresno on May 17. CSUB will also play home-and-home sets with Pepperdine and former WAC rival California Baptist. 
 
The Roadrunners open Big West play slate at UC Riverside on March 18. Bakersfield will also travel to UC Davis, CSUN, Cal Poly and UC Irvine for conference series, while hosting Cal St. Fullerton, Hawai'i, UC San Diego, Long Beach State and UC Santa Barbara.
 
SCHEDULE NOTES…
* After playing four-game conference series in 2021, the Big West Conference returns to three-game league sets for the 2022 season.
* The Roadrunners won conference series with UC Riverside, Hawai'i, UC San Diego, and Cal Poly last season and split with UC Davis.
* Utah and Utah Valley were originally scheduled to play CSUB at Hardt Field in 2021, before COVID-19 complications prevented those teams from traveling to Bakersfield.
* The `Runners also lost their conference series with Cal St. Fullerton a season ago and will meet the Titans for the first-time as league opponents in 2022.
* CSUB's season opener with Oakland on Feb. 18, will be the first meeting between the two schools on a baseball diamond. 
* Bakersfield finished the 2021 season with an overall record of 20-23 and a 17-19 mark in conference action.

BLUE-GOLD SERIES...
Bakersfield's annual Blue-Gold Series continues this weekend with games at 5:00 p.m. on Friday and Saturday and a 1:00 p.m. start on Sunday. The `Runners will then play three more games next week, one each on Thursday, Friday and Saturday.
