Track & Field Sign International Hurdler

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. – Director of Track and Field Marcia Mansur-Wentworth is pleased to announce the CSU Bakersfield women's track and field team's first future addition for next season with the signing of international athlete Julia Stein to a National Letter of Intent.

Stein joins Bakersfield from Sportschule Potsdam "Friedrich Ludwig Jahn" in Potsdam, Germany where she has garnered Top 10 times on the state and national level in the 400-meter hurdles. Stein also ran for SV Electronic Hohen Neuendorf Track club. She placed first, second or third in six state meets and Top 10 in eight national meets, including a first-place time in the 400m hurdles at the North German Youth Championships.

"I am very excited to face a new challenge and highly motivated to work hard in my academics and sport," said Stein. "As I believe that studying in the US will give me the best opportunity to get my degree while continuing track and field."

Stein returns for her final campaign with Friedrich Ludwig Jahn with top event results in the 400m hurdles (1:03.47) and 100m hurdles (15.11).

"Julia has experience with the 400m hurdles which most high school athletes don't," explained Mansur-Wentworth. "Here in the U.S. they run the 300m hurdles, so she'll have an advantage."
