Hanna Signs with Roadrunner Men's Swimming

Bakersfield, Calif. – CSU Bakersfield Director of Swimming Chris Hansen has announced the signing of Lars Hanna to a National Letter of Intent. A native of Centennial, Colo., Hanna is a well-rounded swimmer with the ability to make an impact across the board, but most notably in the backstroke and individual medley disciplines.

"We're thrilled to add Lars to our men's roster for next season," said Hansen. "He has great potential and a great energy. He wants to be fast and he wants to be part of successful teams here at CSUB."

Hanna's personal best times in the 100 Back and 200 Back are 50.56 and 1:49.37, respectively. Both times are just over a second off the pace for the CSUB Top-5 in each event before.

"Lars' backstroke times are fast for someone just finishing up his high school career," Hansen added. "We're excited about his potential to develop the stroke at CSUB. He'll certainly have a great role model in the events with Kris Rogic back for his senior season next fall."

Hanna has also posted personal best times of 1:50.86 in the 200 IM and 4:06.01 in the 400 IM.

He swims for Cherry Creek High School in the Denver suburb of Greenwood Village and represented the Bruins at the 2019 CHSAA Boys Championships. At that event, Hanna finished fifth in the 200 IM with a time of 1:53.77.

"I'm extremely excited to continue my athletic and academic careers at CSU Bakersfield," Hanna said. "I felt an immediate connection to the team and the coaching staff the moment I met them."

Hanna also competes on the club circuit for the Aquawolves Swim Team and Coach Sean Hatzenbuehler.

He is the son of Corey and Stella Hanna.
