Track & Field Finds Success on Day One

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. – The CSU Bakersfield women's track and field team found more success this indoor season at the MLK Collegiate Invitational meet held in Albuquerque, N.M. at the ABQ Convention Center.

University of New Mexico, Texas, USC, LSU, San Diego State, San Francisco State, Grand Canyon, New Mexico State, Cal State Fullerton, UTEP, Pepperdine, San Jose State, Cal Poly Pomona and Azusa Pacific made up CSUB's collegiate competition for the two day meet.

Bakersfield saw sophomore Riley Slayton place ninth in the 600-meter and reset her own school record by nearly two seconds with a time of 1:37.52. Jasmine Walker improved her 600m by nearly a second and placed fourteenth overall.

Freshman Jessi Solis also had a strong performance for the `Runners with a mark above fifty feet (50'00.75") good enough to land eighth on the all-time list in weight throw. She placed sixteenth in a deep pool of throwers.

Mariah LeSure, Jordan Earl and Jazmine Ramey run the 60-meter dash tomorrow while Jayden Christensen will race in the 60m hurdles.

Julianne Finch, Alexa Schacher, Miranda Miller and Kassidy Neptune will compete in pole vault.
