CSUB Comes Up Short At Icardo Center

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. – CSU Bakersfield's women's basketball team could not overcome a fourteen-point third quarter deficit as Seattle University picked up their second win of the season with a 68-58 victory over the Roadrunners on Thursday night.

Bakersfield found themselves down five at halftime off 34.5% shooting from the field while SU converted half of their attempts into points and boasted an even 50.0% from the field at the end of the second period.

CSUB struggled to score in the third quarter but the Redhawks missed just four shots and turned a two-possession game into a double-digit deficit heading into the fourth. Seattle U had three players in double figures at the end of the third while Vanessa Austin had a team-high nine points for the Roadrunners. The `Runners scored eighteen points in the fourth period, a quarter-high, but the four-point edge wasn't enough to overcome the third quarter deficit.

Bakersfield had three players finish in double figures. Alexxus Gilbert led the way with a team-high 15 points, Ashley Austin had 12, and JJ Johnson rounded out the group with 10 points on the night.
