Threlkeld Remains Undefeated, Improves Time In 800m

SACRAMENTO, Calif. – CSU Bakersfield's men and women's outdoor track and field teams took a few athletes to the Hornet Invitational at Sacramento State. The Roadrunners tallied three top ten finishes, a first-place finish, and season-bests.

Reigning conference 800-meter champion Curt Threlkeld posted his fourth first-place victory of the season this afternoon. A wire to wire race, Thelkeld edged a tough 800-meter field by two seconds with a time of 1:49.74 and good enough for fourth all-time on the CSUB 800-meter depth chart. He's held the fastest 800-meter time in the country for two weeks straight and his improvement this weekend could hold at the number one spot.

Freshman Riley Slayton continues to perform at a high level. She placed fifth in the 400-meter hurdles with a time 1:03.38. Tim Van Horn improved on his season-best mark in high jump when he cleared 6-06 and placed seventh overall.
