Stinson Places 4th to Close Trojan Diving Invite

LOS ANGELES – CSU Bakersfield's diving team wrapped up the final day of competition at the Trojan Diving Invite on Sunday with freshman Sam Stinson posting a fourth-place finish among a strong field.

The Roadrunner men concluded the weekend diving meet with the 1-meter board in Los Angeles. Stinson, who hails from Damascus, Ore., came out of the gate strong, sitting in second place with 274.20 points in the prelims. A six-dive score of 268.05 in the finals helped Stinson place fourth overall with 542.25 points, close behind a pair of divers from USC and one from California Baptist.

Like their teammate, `Runners Nate Cummins and Adam Estrella posted very consistent scores across both rounds of diving. Cummins, a sophomore from La Mesa, Calif., placed ninth overall with 485.00 points. A junior from Rancho Cordova, Calif., Estrella tallied 458.30 points to finish 13th.

With their time in Los Angeles concluded, the `Runner divers will return home to begin preparations for their next meet. The Bakersfield swimmers will be back in action in two weeks, Nov. 22-24, at the Pepperdine Winter Invite in Malibu, Calif.
