Game Recap: Men's Soccer |

Come-from-behind Win Falls Short for CSUB

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. – CSU Bakersfield's men's soccer team could have given up in the fifteenth minute of their match on Saturday night down two goals, but didn't. Instead, the Roadrunners nearly put together a come-from-behind win over unbeaten WAC opponent Seattle U (5-0-1) but fell short, 3-2.

James Morris opened scoring for SU with his fourth goal, assisted by Declan McGlynn in the eleventh minute. Four minutes later, McGlynn played a ball to Morris that gave the Redhawks a 2-0 lead. What could have been a third-straight shutout for CSUB ended up being a thriller until the end of regulation.

Bakersfield broke through in the 25th minute when Niklas Korber played a cross to Ryan Goldsmith who sent his strike past Akili Kasim and cut the deficit 2-1 with fifteen minutes left in the first half.

Morris responded with his third tally of the night five minutes before the end of the period. It was Morris' first hat trick and sixth goal of the season. McGlynn and Julian Avila-Good each picked up an assist on the goal.

An SU handball off a shot taken from Carlos Armendariz went unnoticed but it didn't matter. Armendariz got his rebound in the 56th minute and fired back at the box to net his fourth goal on the year and cut the deficit 3-2.

CSUB was unable to find an equalizer in the last thirty minutes of the match as Seattle U held on for the league win.
