CSUB Blanks UIW 4-0



BAKERSFIELD, Calif. – CSU Bakersfield's men's soccer team did not disappoint on Friday night playing in front of one of its largest crowds this season. The Roadrunners rallied behind one another for a thrilling 4-0 shutout over Incarnate Word. Bakersfield opened scoring in the 11th minute when Tom Shepherd played a cross to Victor Romero who netted his first goal of his career. A long ball up the field to Ryan Goldsmith set up Romero for his second tally of the night. Down a man in the second half from a red card called with five minutes left in the first, CSUB managed to maintain in possession and attack. Goldsmith recorded his fifth goal on the season in the 61st minute when Ricardo Soza threaded the needle through two Cardinals defenders. Mikey Vogel had the final goal of the match off Shepherd's second assist of the night. Bakersfield returns to the pitch on Sunday for another WAC showdown and opportunity to add another three points to their point total. CSUB welcomes UTRGV for Senior Night as the Roadrunner honor seniors Carlos Arroyo, Rodrigo Sarmiento, Ryan Goldsmith and Niklas Korber.
