Gillilan Claims WAC Swimmer of the Week

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. – For the first time this season, a CSU Bakersfield men's swimmer has earned recognition from the Western Athletic Conference. Sophomore Loren Gillilan was named the WAC Swimmer of the Week on Tuesday after he won the 100- and 200-yard butterfly events and contributed to two winning Roadrunner relays.

Gillilan posted career-best times in both the fly events. His 47.85 in the 100 ranks second in the WAC so far this season, while his 1:49.13 in the 200 ranks sixth. The sophomore anchored CSUB's 400 medley relay team that was victorious in 3:23.64 and was the final swimmer on the `Runners 200 freestyle relay squad that finished in 1:24.68.

This is the first WAC Swimmer of the Week honor for Gillilan.

CSUB will be back in action beginning Wednesday, February 27 and concluding March 2.
