CSUB Announces 2018 Men’s Soccer Schedule

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. – The CSU Bakersfield men's soccer program has announced the 2018 schedule and the Roadrunners will play 12 home matches at Main Soccer Field this fall, the most since the 2009 season.

"We are really pleased with our 2018 schedule and encouraged by the strength and diversity of the competition," said CSUB head coach Richie Grant.

The `Runners get ready for the fall schedule with a pair of exhibition matches.  CSUB welcomes CSUN on August 12 at 7:00 p.m. and will travel to UC Irvine on August 16 for a 7:00 p.m. kickoff.

CSUB opens the 2018 regular season with a four-game homestand on the Main Soccer Field.  The Roadrunners begin the season against Bethesda on Friday, August 24 at 7:00 p.m.  and will also welcome Pacific, Sacramento State and UC Davis as part of the early, home stretch.  Cal Poly also makes the trip to Bakersfield for a non-conference game on September 15.

The Roadrunners will make trips to Oregon State on September 7 and Gonzaga on September 9 before the start of Western Athletic Conference play.

"Our goal with the August and early September matches is to prepare our program for the demands of the WAC schedule.  We are fortunate to have some great games here at the Main Field, both to open and close the season.  We are grateful to our marketing and ticketing staff for their creative efforts to make our home schedule a memorable experience for our student-athletes."

CSUB opens the WAC slate on September 22 when San Jose State travels to campus and the `Runners host defending conference champion Air Force on October 5 at 12:00 p.m.  After CSUB hosts Utah Valley University on Oct. 7, the `Runners play three straight conference road games (Seattle U, The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley and the University of Incarnate Word) before returning home on October 26 against Houston Baptist University.

The `Runners will look to make strong postseason push as they finish the year with three straight conference home games.  CSUB closes the regular season on November 3 against California Baptist University at 7:00 p.m.

The top seven teams in the regular season conference standings will qualify for the 2018 WAC Men's Soccer Tournament on Nov. 7-11, which will be hosted by Seattle U.
