Vecchio Secures Nine New Additions For 2019



BAKERSFIELD, Calif. – CSU Bakersfield women's soccer coach Sebastian Vecchio announced the addition of nine future Roadrunners for the class of 2023. The recruiting class consists of Gracie Bowers, Jasmine Bowman, Kaylee Covert, Chelsee Duran, Asia Leatherbarrow, Giselle Michel, Dana Neff, Chloe Sizemore, and Jaden Skinner.
 
"I am extremely excited to announce the first part of our incoming class for 2019," said Vecchio. "My staff has worked countless hours to find, attract, and secure such a talented class."

Gracie Bowers | Midfielder | Murrieta, Calif. | Vista Murrieta HS
 
Helped program earn its second straight Southwestern League championship two seasons ago…fell short of a conference title three-peat last year, but helped Broncos finish runner-up in league standings…also plays volleyball.
                                                                                         
Jasmine Bowman | Center Defender | Aurora, Colo. | Rangeview HS
 
Earned Coach's Award with Raiders…voted RHS girls' soccer MVP…tallied three assists as a freshman…added four goals to her field stats as a sophomore…named to the academic honor roll list…also ran track.
 
Kaylee Covert | Left Forward | Murrieta, Calif. | Vista Murrieta HS
 
Helped Broncos earn Southwestern League Championship titles in 2015-16 and 2016-17…finished the 2016-17 season in the semifinals of the Division II CIF state championship…has been named Max Preps Player of the Game four times in her prep career…has been named Vista Murrieta Player of the Week twice and Vista Murrieta Player of the Month once…earned second-team honors in her sophomore season…led SWL in points (22) and assists (12) last season, garnered first-team accolades…enters her final campaign at VMHS with a total of 51 points (16 goals and 19 assists).

Named first-team All-Southwestern last year…led Broncos in goals a season ago…played travel soccer with Legends FC…helped club finish as finalists in the Far West Regional IV…earned South CRL Championship title and SDCSL league championship in 2016-17…added an Arsenal FC South League championship last club season…also played volleyball…won SWL titles in soccer and volleyball.
 
Asia Leatherbarrow | Goalkeeper | Gilbert, Ariz. | Hamilton HS
 
Helped HHS win state championship title last year…finished the 2016-17 season in the 6A regional semifinals…also ran track for the Huskies…enters final prep season starting in goal for the defending state champions.
 
Giselle Michel | Forward | Corona, Calif. | Centennial HS
 
Helped Huskies win first Big V111 league championship in almost 15 years…played travel soccer with Legends FC East Riverside…earned a league title with the club…was named all-league last season.
 
Dana Neff | Left Forward | Imperial Beach, Calif. | Coronado HS
 
Recorded four goals in her first season at Coronado…earned Islanders' Varsity Letter for her performance on the pitch…played travel soccer with Albion SC…also played lacrosse.
 
Chloe Sizemore | Outside Defender, Forward | Bakersfield, Calif. | Frontier HS
 
Local standout from the Bakersfield area…earned SWYL all-league and Jockey Club honors during prep career with Titans…helped local high school solidify league championship two seasons ago (2016-17)…played club soccer with South Valley Thunder…helped team win premier league championship last summer…also competed in track and field.
 
Jaden Skinner | Forward | Simi Valley, Calif. | Simi Valley HS
 
Honored with Coach's Award and Scholar Athlete twice with the Pioneers...was named third-team all-league in 2017-18…was voted MVP at SVHS and named first-team all-league…played travel soccer with Eagles SC…was captain of Eagles 00 DPL for two years…helped club earn cups at the state, regional, and national level in 2014…won the Premier League in 2015…enters senior season of her high school career with 68 points (20 goals and 28 assists).
 
"After losing nine seniors it was important for us to bring in talented players that would not only be able to compete with our returners but fill those roles lost on and off the field," added Vecchio. "I am extremely excited to see what this team can do in 2019."
