Swimming Inks Three to Begin 2019 Class

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. – Director of Swimming Chris Hansen is off to a strong start to his 2019 recruiting class.  The Roadrunners will welcome Mya Jackson and Ellice Richman to the women's team next season, while Sam Stinson will join the men's squad.

Jackson is a native of Hemet, Calif. and represents the Prianha Swim Team.  She attends Helen Hunt Jackson High School and is coached by Marinte Gregorie.

"Mya is sprinter with a ton of talent," said Hansen.  "Her best time of 23.4 (50-yard freestyle) and 51.4 (100 free) will come in and be among our best.  I watched her this summer at the California/Nevada sectional really liked her stroke.  This girl is going to do big things in college and I'm excited it will be here at CSUB."

Richman is coached by Kevin Zacher at Sunrise Mountain High School and is from Peoria, Ariz.   She also competes for the Scottsdale Aquatic Club.

"Ellice is going to be a nice surprise for CSUB," said Hansen.  "Her time of 24.1 (50 free), 52.7 (100 free), and 1:53.01 (200 free) are all going to help up big time in the relays."

Stinson is a Damascus, Ore. Native and is coached by King Roland at Portland Adventist Academy.  He also represents the Tualatin Hills Dive Club.

"Sam is a much-needed diver on the men's side," said Hansen.  "What's great about Sam is he is coming into college with a platform list, which is huge for our conference.  He also is coming in with a high degree of difficulty.  He will help both in our dual meets and conference championships."

The current `Runners will be back in action on Thursday, November 29 for the three-day UNLV Invite.
