UC Riverside Hands CSUB An 11-2 Defeat

BAKERSFIELD, Calif.—A night after benefitting from a big inning, CSU Bakersfield saw UC Riverside take advantage of an offensive outburst as the Highlanders defeated the Roadrunners 11-2 Saturday night.

With the score tied at one in the bottom of the fourth, UC Riverside recorded three doubles as the Highlanders scored five runs. UCR followed up with three more in the bottom of the fifth and two in the sixth.

UC Riverside's Daniel Martinez was 4-for-4 with a double and five RBI's. Aaron Cisneros went 2-for-4 with two runs scored while Colby Schultz went 2-for-5 with a run and a RBI. Andrew Penner paced the Roadrunners, as he was 3-for-4 with an RBI. Jake Ortega recorded a 2-for-3 performance while Max Carter went 2-for-4 with an RBI.

UCR (11-7) tallied 13 hits while the Roadrunners (9-5) put up 10. Both teams committed four errors.

“We will move forward from this game and focus on tomorrow,” said CSUB head coach Jeremy Beard.

The Sunday series finale begins at 1 p.m.
