BAKERSFIELD, Calif. – The long awaited moment arrived and CSU Bakersfield's volleyball team finally saw its name on the screen as the NCAA Selection Show revealed where the Roadrunners will begin the 2017 NCAA Tournament. On Sunday evening, CSUB found itself matched up with Stanford for the first round on Friday, Dec. 1.
The `Runners (19-13, 9-5 WAC) will head to Stanford, Calif. for the match schedule for 7 p.m. (PT). Stanford, the defending National Champions, earned the third overall seed in the NCAA Tournament and will host CSUB in the first round after posting a 24-3 record on the year.
CSUB will be making its second-ever NCAA Division I Tournament appearance and the second in just the last four years. In 2014, the `Runners took on the Cardinal in the first round as well. Stanford swept CSUB and improved to 30-1, but the `Runners put up a good fight with set scores of 25-21, 25-21, and 25-18.
