Box Score ALBUQUERQUE, N.M.—Niko Hansen's goal with 28 seconds remaining in the second overtime sent the University of New Mexico (3-2) past CSU Bakersfield 1-0 in men's soccer action Friday night.
The game winning goal was set up by Lobo goalie Jason Beaulieu who sent a long pass towards the CSUB net. Hansen took the pass and sent the ball into the bottom right of the Roadrunner goal, past CSUB keeper Nicolas Clever.
Clever was stellar in between the pipes until the very end for the Roadrunners. He made saves on the previous three New Mexico shots on goal. UNM would be credited with 17 shots for the match, compared to seven for CSUB. Hugo Vinales led the 'Runners with three attempts.
"This was our best performance of the season," said CSUB head coach Richie Grant. "The team gave everything we had to get a positive result here. We are a better team moving forward."
The Roadrunners conclude play at The Grange & Ashwill Memorial Invitational Sunday when CSUB (1-3) faces Missouri State (1-2) at 12 p.m. (MT).
