BAKERSFIELD, Calif.—Four CSU Bakersfield players recorded two RBI's as the Roadrunners defeated Chicago State 14-3 Saturday night at Hardt Field. The 'Runners won their fifth game in a row as the contest was completed in seven innings due to the Western Athletic Conference 10-run rule.

CSUB jumped out to a 4-0 lead as a Cody White's two-RBI double highlighted the scoring spurt in the bottom of the second for the Roadrunners. CSUB added three more in the bottom of the third. Jake Ortega capped off the scoring with a single that scored two runs.

Roadrunner starter Andrew Hansen retired the first nine Chicago State batters he faced before giving up four consecutive hits to begin the fourth which resulted in three Cougar runs. Hansen got a fly out before inducing Chris Hipchen to hit into a 4-6-3 double play to end the inning.

Doubles from Chance Gusbeth and Ryan Grotjohn each scored two runs for the Roadrunners in the bottom of the sixth. CSUB would 13 batters to the plate in the sixth and scored seven more times.

Mahlik Jones led CSUB as he went 3-for-4 with two RBI's.  Gusbeth was 2-for-2 with three runs scored and two RBI's. Grotjohn was 2-for-3 with two runs scored. White was 2-for-3 with two runs scored. Ortega also went 2-for-3. Max Carter walked three times and scored three runs for the Roadrunners.

Hansen would be credited with the complete game five-hitter. Hansen struck out five and walked one. Andy Gertonson had two of the five Cougars' hits.

CSUB (14-34, 8-14 WAC) and Chicago State (13-38, 6-17 WAC) conclude the series Sunday afternoon. First pitch is set for 12 p.m. Listen on 1230 AM/98.1 FM ESPN.
