BAKERSFIELD, Calif.—The CSU Bakersfield baseball team welcomes WAC co-leader to Hardt Field this week for a Western Athletic Conference baseball series.
Friday and Saturday's games will begin at 6 p.m. with Sunday's finale getting underway at 12 p.m. Friday's game will be streamed on the WAC Digital Network with the final two games being streamed on the Roadrunner Sports Network. Friday and Saturday's games can also be heard on 1230 AM/98.1 FM ESPN.
CSU Bakersfield defeated Sacramento State in three of the four games last season including a 4-0 decision in the WAC Tournament. The Roadrunners lead the all-time series 10-6.
The Hornets begin the week with a 17-10 overall mark and tied for the WAC lead with Seattle U with a 6-0 record. Sacramento State is at Fresno State on Wednesday before traveling to CSUB. Matt Smith is third in the WAC in hitting at .382. He leads Sac State in RBI's (16), slugging percentage (.461), and on-base percentage (.443).
On Friday night, The Hornets will send Sam Long (3-4, 3.72 ERA) out against AJ Monarrez (1-4, 6.81 ERA). Saturday's matchup will pit Max Karnos (2-1, 3.44 ERA) against Andrew Hansen (1-5, 5.62 ERA). The series will conclude on Sunday with Grant Kukuk (3-1, 4.00 ERA) pitching against Chance Gusbeth (1-2, 7.67 ERA).
Freshman Sergio Robles has been a bright spot for the Roadrunners this season. He has reached base in 13 consecutive games entering this week's series against Sacramento State, the longest by any Roadrunner this season.
