BAKERSFIELD, Calif.—The CSU Bakersfield baseball team travels to UC Irvine Tuesday before hosting UC Riverside this weekend at Hardt Field.
The first pitch between CSUB and UCI is set for 6:30 p.m. It is is the first of two games between CSUB and UC Irvine this season. The Anteaters will head to Bakersfield on Apr. 12 for a 6 p.m. start. UCI leads the all-time series 14-2.
The Anteaters are 8-4 after sweeping UTSA last weekend at home. Keston Hiura leads UCI in batting (.467), home runs (4), and RBI's (13). Hiura has a .867 slugging percentage and a .534 on-base percentage in 12 starts this season.
The Roadrunners welcome UCR to Bakersfield on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. Friday and Saturday's games are scheduled for 6 p.m. with the series finale coming on Sunday at 1 p.m.
CSUB swept a pair of games from the Highlanders last season. UC Riverside leads the all-time series 12-5. The Highlanders are 5-7 entering this week's action. UCR hosts UNLV in a two-game series beginning on Tuesday before traveling to Bakersfield. Aaron Cisneros' .341 batting average leads the Highlanders. He also has a team high two home runs and team leading eight RBI's.
The Roadrunners will look to break a five-game losing streak that has dropped the CSUB record to 4-7 on the year. Dustin Frailey is the hottest hitter in the Western Athletic Conference, leading the league at a .465 clip. Frailey went 11-for-19 at the plate last week and now has a .721 slugging percentage. Roadrunner second baseman David Metzgar is the WAC leader in RBI's with 13.
