BAKERSFIELD, Calif.—The CSU Bakersfield baseball team heads to the central coast Tuesday before the Roadrunners return home to begin a seven-game home stand on Friday.
The Roadrunners head to San Luis Obispo on Tuesday for a 6 p.m. matchup against Cal Poly. CSU Bakersfield and Cal Poly will play twice this season, beginning Tuesday in San Luis Obispo. The Mustangs travel to Bakersfield on May 17. The teams split a pair of games last season with each team winning on their home field. Cal Poly leads the all-time series 14-6.
The Mustangs are 15-7 after taking two of three at Wichita State this past weekend. Brett Barbier is hitting a team high .397. John Schuknecht leads the Mustangs in home runs (3) and RBI's (25). Cam Schneider (1-1, 6.75 ERA) is scheduled to face CSUB's Max Carter (0-3, 9.45 ERA).
CSUB welcomes Grand Canyon to Hardt Field this weekend. Friday and Saturday's games will begin at 6 p.m. before the Sunday finale gets underway at 12 p.m. Friday and Saturday's games will be streamed on the Roadrunner Sports Network before Sunday's game will be streamed on the WAC Digital Network. Friday and Sunday's games will be heard on 1230 AM/98.1 ESPN or online at the 1230ESPNSports.com website.
Grand Canyon leads the all-time series against CSUB 4-2. The Antelopes won two of the three games against the 'Runners last season in Phoenix. The defending WAC regular season champions, the Antelopes are 10-9 after losing two of three against Utah Valley last weekend.
Paul Panaccione paces the Antelopes in batting (.375), home runs (2), and RBI's (17). Thomas Lerouge is tied with three others for the WAC lead in hits (37). Lerouge is hitting .370 this season.
On Friday night, GCU will send Cameron Brendel (2-0, 6.20 ERA) out against AJ Monarrez (1-3, 6.15 ERA). Saturday's matchup will pit Lefty Jake Repavich (2-1, 2.09 ERA) against Andrew Hansen (1-4, 5.77 ERA). The series will conclude on Sunday with Mick Vorhof (2-0, 2.40 ERA) pitching against Chance Gusbeth (1-1, 6.38 ERA).
