BAKERSFIELD, Calif.—Oklahoma won both ends of a doubleheader at CSU Bakersfield Saturday.

GAME 1

The Sooners scored five of their 10 runs with two outs as OU defeated the Roadrunners 10-7. 

Max Carter gave the Roadrunners the lead in the bottom of the first when his RBI single plated Mahlik Jones. The Sooners sent nine batters to the plate in the top of the second, scoring four times to take the lead. Domenic DeRenzo's 2-RBI triple highlighted the inning for the Sooners.  Austin O'Brien recored his second RBI of the game with a single in the top of the third.

CSUB got two back in the third when David Metzgar tripled in Mahlik Jones before Carter earned his second RBI with a single that scored Metzgar.  Metzgar tallied his second RBI of the game when he singled in Drew Seelman in the bottom of the fourth. The Roadrunners tied the game when Jake Irvin uncorked a wild pitch that went to the backstop, allowing Jones to score. Cody White's ground out to short allowed Metzgar to score to return the lead to CSUB at 6-5.  

Oklahoma scored two in the top of the sixth on RBI base hits from Hunter Haley and Sheldon Nause to take a 7-6 lead. White tied the score for CSUB in the bottom of the sixth with a single that plated Christian Deaton.

Sergio Luna, CSUB's third pitcher of the day, walked consecutive batters with two outs in the top of eighth to bring up Neuse, Oklahoma's leading hitter.  Neuse singled up the middle for the go-ahead run. Jack Flansburg's single through the right side plated two more for a 10-7 lead. JB Olson pitched the final two innings for OU, getting the six-out save. Austin Hansen was credited with the victory.

Cade Harris reached base in all five of his plate appearances for the Sooners. He would post two hits and three walks. O'Brien was 3-for-4 with two RBI's. Neuse went 3-for-5 with two RBI's.  Wise and Haley would also register two hits.

Jones recorded his first four-hit game in a CSUB uniform as he went 4-for-4 with three runs scored. Carter and Metzgar each recorded two hits. Carter, Metzgar, and White all drove in two runs.

GAME 2

Oklahoma (11-9-1) swept the doubleheader, winning the nightcap by a 13-0 count. Sooner starter Chris Andritsos retired nine CSUB batters in a row at one point, as he limited the 'Runners to two hits. Andritsos struck out two and did not walk a batter in six innings. The three OU relievers continued the shutout, not allowing a hit, striking out another two CSUB batters.

Taking advantage of a CSUB error, the Sooners got on the board first, scoring two unearned runs in the top of the second. Neuse tripled in the third and came around on a wild pitch by CSUB starter AJ Monarrez.

O'Brien hit his first home run of the year in the top of the fourth as the Sooners added three more runs in the top of the fourth. The seventh OU run came across in the fifth on an O'Brien sacrifice fly. Oklahoma batted around in the top of the seventh and scored six more times.

Neuse went 4-for-6 with two runs scored. O'Brien would go 2-for-3 with four RBI's. Haley and Ben Hollis each added two hits.

“We need to keep plugging away, make your breaks, and make your luck,” said CSUB head coach Bob Macaluso. “It is hard to win a four-game series, and give them credit, Oklahoma was able to do it.”
