CSUB Opens WAC Action at UIW Wed.; Hosts Pacific Sun.

BAKERSFIELD, Calif.--The CSU Bakersfield men's soccer team opens Western Athletic Conference men's soccer action Wednesday at UIW. The Roadrunners will host Pacific on Sunday.

The Roadrunners (2-2-2) begin Wednesday's match against the Cardinals at 7:30 p.m. (CDT). Incarnate Word defeated CSUB 2-1 in overtime in Bakersfield in the first meeting between the two schools at the Division I level. UIW leads the all-time series 2-0.

The Cardinals are 4-2 after playing a pair of exhibition matches last weekend at home in San Antonio, Texas. UIW defeated Central Arkansas 8-1 Sept. 18 in their last game action. Noah Keats has scored seven of the 16 Cardinal goals this season. He has a team high 16 points.

Sunday's 6 p.m. match is the first meeting between CSUB and Pacific in men's soccer. The Tigers are 1-8 and have lost four in a row entering this week's action. The lone Pacific victory this season is over WAC member San Jose State (3-0). Tristan Blackmon, Gaku Lange, and Brian IM all have two goals this season. Kory Kindle, a 2013 MLS SuperDraft selection from CSUB, is the volunteer coach for the Tigers.

CSUB head coach Richie Grant became the 50th active Division I men's soccer head coach to win at least 200 matches in his career on Sept. 24, 2015 when the Roadrunners defeated San Francisco 2-1 in overtime. In 19 seasons as a collegiate head coach, Grant is 200-150-31. Christian Duarte scored the game winning goal 2:05 into overtime.
