BAKERSFIELD, Calif.--Bakersfield head men's soccer coach Richie Grant has announced the 2014 schedule.

After an exhibition Aug. 19 at Stanford (coached by former 'Runner great Jeremy Gunn), the Roadrunners open the 2014 season with a matchup at San Diego State on Aug. 29. Bakersfield will play nine non-conference matches against opponents from six different conferences. CSUB will compete in tournaments at UNLV and New Mexico. The 'Runners will host non-conference matches against UC Davis (Sept. 13) and Sacramento State (Sept. 28).

The second Western Athletic Conference season opens Oct. 4 against San Jose State and former head coach Simon Tobin. In addition to the match against the Spartans, coming to Bakersfield for WAC games are league newcomer Incarnate Word, Houston Baptist, Utah Valley, and Seattle U. The conference tournament will be held in Seattle Nov. 13-16.

"Our non-conference schedule in September will prepare us well for the WAC, as we face multiple teams with NCAA tournament experience," Grant said. "We have some tough games away from home and two quality tournaments at UNLV and New Mexico to look forward to."
