Bakersfield Wraps Baseball Regular Season

BAKERSFIELD, Calif.--The Bakersfield baseball team wraps up the regular season this week with four games on the road. The roadtrip begins Tuesday night at Fresno State with a 6:35 first pitch.

Bakersfield defeated Fresno State (25-25) 6-3 May 7 to take a 13-11 all-time series lead. Bakersfield has won five of the last six in the series. The Bulldogs are 25-25 entering this week. Jordan Luplow leads the team in hitting (.378), home runs (8), RBI's (40), doubles (20), slugging percentage (.617) and on-base percentage (.465). He has not committed an error in 115 chances this season (111-4-0) in the outfield.

The regular season concludes with a three-game series at Seattle U which begins Thursday at 6 p.m. at Bannerwood Park in Bellevue, Wash. The middle game of the series is set for 6 p.m. Friday night. The regular season concludes Saturday at 12 p.m.

The all-time series between Bakersfield and Seattle U began last season when the Roadrunners swept the Redhawks in a three-game set in Bakersfield. Seattle plays at No. 13 Washington Tuesday night before hosting the Roadrunners at Bannerwood Park in Bellevue, Wash. Landon Cray leads the team in batting (.362). Brian Olson is the team leader in RBI's (45) while Cullen Hendrickson paces the squad in home runs (5).

This is the final week of the regular season and Bakersfield has clinched a spot in the May 21-25 WAC Tournament which will be played in Mesa, Ariz. at the new Chicago Cubs facility “Wrigley West”.

Entering the week Sacramento State leads the conference with an 18-6 record. Grand Canyon, which is not eligible for the league tournament due to their transition to DIvision I, is second at 17-7. Utah Valley is third (15-9) followed by CSUB and Texas-Pan American tied for fourth (14-10).

Seattle is sixth at 11-10 followed by New Mexico State (10-11), North Dakota (8-13), Northern Colorado (4-20), and Chicago State (3-18).

Three series, Bakersfield at Seattle, Chicago State at NM State, and North Dakota at Sacramento State, will be played Thursday-Saturday. The remaining two series, Utah Valley at Grand Canyon and Texas-Pan American at Northern Colorado, will be played Friday-Sunday.
