Box Score SAN LUIS OBISPO, Calif.—A six-run seventh proved to be the difference as No. 5 Cal Poly (24-4) defeated Bakersfield (11-16) 6-1 Tuesday afternoon at Baggett Stadium.
The Roadrunners scored in the top of the fourth when Mylz Jones' (So., Palmdale, Calif., Paraclete HS) single plated Jordie Hein (Jr., Scottsdale, Ariz., Chapparal HS)
After preventing Bakersfield from scoring with runners on second and third and one out in the top of the seventh, the Mustangs took the lead for good in the bottom of the inning. Cal Poly loaded the bases with one out when Chris Hoo tied the score with an RBI single. The bases remained loaded for Tim Wise who singled to plate the go-ahead run. The Mustangs would score four more times in the inning.
Zack Zehner went 4-fo-4 with an RBI and a run scored to pace Cal Poly. Jones and Garrett Pierce (Jr., Bakersfield, Calif., Centennial HS) each posted two hits for Bakersfield.
The Roadrunners travel to No. 29 Oklahoma this weekend for a three-game series beginning Friday night at 6 p.m. (CDT) in Norman.
