Roadrunners To Take On 2 Nationally Ranked Opponents

BAKERSFIELD, Calif.--The Bakersfield baseball team (11-15) will take on a pair of nationally ranked opponents this week.

The Roadrunners are at No. 5 Cal Poly Tuesday. This will be the highest ranked opponent Bakersfield is playing since Mar. 11-13, 2011 when CSUB played then No. 4 South Carolina. The 'Runners and Cal Poly are playing for the 17th time with the Mustangs leading the all-time series 11-5. Cal Poly swept the season series from Bakersfield last season.

The Mustangs enter the week ranked fifth by Perfect Game and Baseball America and No. 9 by Collegiate Baseball Newspaper. Cal Poly is 23-4 after opening Big West play with a three-game sweep of UC Davis last weekend at home. The Mustangs conclude an 18-game homestand this week. Nick Torres leads the team in home runs (4), and RBI's (28).

Tuesday's game start has been moved up to 2 p.m. due to expected inclement weather in the San Luis Obispo area.

This is the first baseball series between Bakersfield and Oklahoma. The Sooners begin  the week ranked 28th in the NCBWA poll and will play at in-state rival Oklahoma State for the first of five times this season in a non-conference game Tuesday.

The Sooners are 20-9 after taking 2-of-3 from Kansas in a Big 12 series last weekend in Lawrence, Kan. Mac James leads the team in hitting (.408) and has hit three home runs with 22 RBI's. Hunter Haley is the team leader in home runs (5) and RBI's (25).

Friday's game will begin at 6 P.M. (CST) with Saturday game set for 2 p.m. (CDT) and Sunday's series finale scheduled for 1 P.M. (CST).
