KANSAS CITY, Mo.—Bakersfield defeated Missouri-Kansas City 1-0 Friday night in Western Athletic Conference men's soccer action.

Julian Zamora (R-Fr., Bakersfield, Calif., Golden Valley HS) scored his eighth goal of the season with 10:49 to play in the first half for what proved to be the game winner. Zamora put back a Christian Duarte (Jr., Houston, Texas, Clear Springs HS) attempt that was saved in front by UMKC goalie Chris McGaughey.

Nicolas Clever (So., Cologne, Germany, Gesamtschule Kuerten) came up big for the 'Runners midway through the second half. The Kangaroos took two shots from inside the five-yard box towards Clever. The CSUB goalie turned away both attempts to preserve his fourth shutout, the fifth overall for Bakersfield this season. Clever made five saves.

Bakersfield improves to 8-2-1, 2-0 in WAC play. Missouri-Kansas City falls to 2-7-1, 0-2 in the WAC. Bakersfield travels to Air Force Sunday. The match begins at 1 p.m. (MDT).
