Box Score 2 LONG BEACH, Calif.--Bakersfield competed at the Long Beach State Baiden Classic Friday, going 1-1 on the day.

Long Beach State defeated Bakersfield in straight sets 25-20, 25-21, 25-13. The 49ers limited the Roadrunners to .146 hitting in the match compared to .324 for Long Beach State. Kelsee Sawyer (So., Temecula, Calif., Great Oak HS) paced the 'Runners with 11 kills. Debora Araujo (Sr., Belo Horizonte, Brazil, Western Nebraska C.C.) posted 10 kills. Lisa Bartsch (Sr., Wuppertal, Germany, Augusta State) charted 15 assists.
"There were some great rallies against Long Beach because we took some big swings and battled in our defensive game," said Bakersfield head coach Jolene Shepardson. "Long Beach did a good job of keeping the pressure on us and we didn't respond well enough in the end."

The Roadrunners defeated the Wildcats in straight sets (25-11, 25-12, 25-20) to conclude the day. CSUB hit .287 for the match, including a .500 clip in set one.
Star Tucker-Campbell (R-Fr., Moorpark, Calif., Moorpark HS) hit .467 in the match. Tucker-Campbell had eight kills and seven blocks. Araujo had a match high 11 kills. Mariah Alvidrez (R-Jr., Bakersfield, Calif., Liberty HS) recorded 14 digs.
"We responded well against Prairie View," Shepardson said. "Our defensive game kept going and we were able to convert a lot of our digs into transition kills."
The Roadrunners are at UC Davis Sunday afternoon. The first serve comes at 1 p.m.
