PROVIDENCE, R.I.--A come from behind 12-11 victory over the host Bears highlighted CSU Bakersfield's water polo performance on Day 1 of Brown Invitational.

The Roadrunners trailed throughout the contest before Jessica Browning (Sr., Lake Forest, Calif., El Toro HS) drew an ejection with just over a minute to go. On the ensuing 6-on-5, Shannon McKenzie (R-Sr., Rancho Cucamonga, Calif., Rancho Cucamonga HS) tied the match at 11.

The Roadrunners got a stop agains the Brown offense setting the stage for Nicola Barrett (Fr., Cape Town, South Africa, Rustenburg HS) who scored the gamewinning goal from six meters out.

Browning and Janelle Shelby (So., San Diego, Calif., Grossmont HS) both tallied hat tricks. Sam Shead (Sr., Johannesburg, South Africa, Rand Park HS) scored twice.

"We got some great defensive stops when we need them," said CSUB head coach Jason Gall. "It was a great team effort. We had some clutch shooting from out lefties (Barrett and McKenzie) when we need them."

No. 15 Michigan used a five-goal fourth quarter to secure a 12-5 victory over CSU Bakersfield in match one Saturday. The Wolverines led 7-5 after three and held the 'Runners scoreless in the final stanza.

Browning and Niki De Leon (Fr., Montebello, Calif., Montebello HS) both scored two goals for CSUB. Alex Bayer (So., Alta Loma, Calif., Los Osos HS) made nine saves.

CSUB's match against Harvard on Sunday has been moved back 30 minutes and will begin at 8:30 a.m. (EDT). The Roadrunners conclude the tournament against No. 20 Hartwick at 11:15 a.m. (EDT).
