LOS ANGELES, Calif.--Nicola Barrett (Fr., Cape Town, South Africa, Rustenberg HS) scored four goals but No. 4 UCLA defeated CSU Bakersfield 14-7 in MPSF water polo action Sunday afternoon.
Barrett also drew three of the 15 UCLA ejections during the match. Sam Shead (Sr., Johannesburg, South Africa, Rand Park HS) scored twice. Jessica Browning (Sr., Lake Forest, Calif., El Toro HS) scored a goal, blocked three shots, and drew three ejections. Shannon McKenzie (R-Sr., Rancho Cucamonga, Calif., Rancho Cucamonga HS) recorded four assists. Alex Bayer (So., Alta Loma, Calif., Los Osos HS) made nine saves. CSUB would score five power play goals.
"We played well, but we had a couple of mistakes that cost us goals," said Bakersfield head coach Jason Gall. "We are improving from week to week."
CSUB hosts the second Roadrunner Invitational next weekend. The Roadrunners take on Fresno Pacific (10 a.m.) and Brown (4 p.m.) on Friday before hosting No. 1 USC on Saturday at 12 p.m.
